To best serve you, I have received my certification as a professional birth photographer through The Beauty in Birth. By being certified it means that I have gone through extensive training about birth photography, passed an assessment, and had multiple birth photography galleries critiqued and approved by the instructor.
This photo received a People’s Choice Award in a 2023 image showcase hosted by Birth Becomes You, and was then featured in an article by The Huffington Post!

Childbirth is the way in which all of our stories began, yet the beauty of it is so often kept hidden within hospital walls. Through birth photography it is my mission to reduce that stigma, but more importantly, it is to serve families who want to remember that feeling of seeing and holding their babies for the first time. It’s to bless a family by preserving a life-changing moment that can’t be rehearsed or redone.
Because of all that birth entails, photographing it professionally requires a whole list of skill sets beyond just knowing how to take high quality images. Among other things, it requires an understanding of birth terminology, a willingness to be on call 24/7 for multiple weeks at a time, and most importantly, a fierce passion for birth and storytelling.
I believe my 7 years of experience with photojournalism helped me develop the skill of documenting stories without intruding on them, which is so important in a setting like birth for the sake of everyone’s comfort and safety.
